Vancouver, November 15, 2006 - Scorpio Mining Corporation (TSX:SPM) is pleased to report additional results from definition drilling of the Hoag Zone at the Company's Nuestra Senora project in Sinaloa State, Mexico.
Drilling continues to test the extents of both the Hoag and Sept 9 zones, which are the first new discoveries of major mineralized bodies on the property since ASARCO was actively mining the Nuestra Señora, Santo Domingo and Candelaria deposits in the 1960's. The Sept 9 Zone is favourably located just 15 metres north of the ramp while the Hoag Zone is located an only an additional 30 metres to the north. Their locations relative to the ramp and underground workings make them readily accessible for development and exploitation.
Peter J. Hawley, President, CEO reports, "Our continued success at the Nuestra Senora, with the discovery of the Hoag Zone and most recently the Sept 9 Zone, confirms the excellent exploration upside for the Nuestra Senora project. The Hoag and the Sept 9 zones do not outcrop at surface, but are situated between the Nuestra Senora deposit and the Santo Domingo and Santa Teresa deposits, all of which have surface expressions. As the two new discoveries have shown, the stacked thrust faults on the property have potential for hosting multiple mineralized bodies that could be discovered via systematic drilling."
Table 1 presents assay results for drill holes NS-UG-06-113 to 116. Additional results will continue to be released as available.

Drill hole data reflect down hole core lengths and actual (uncut) grades. True widths cannot be reliably estimated at this time.
Preliminary plan and longitudinal sections showing the location of the zone relative to the Nuestra Senora deposit as well as proposed holes and underground workings is available on the Scorpio Mining web site at: http://www.scorpiomining.com/s/NuestraSenora.asp.
Vice President, Exploration & Development, Mr. D. Roger Scammell, PGeo, is the Company's Qualified Person for the Nuestra Senora project. Mr. Scammell is responsible for the current exploration and development program and the preparation of all technical information provided in this release. All technical information for the Nuestra Senora property is obtained and reported under a formal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) program. Samples are shipped to the ALS Chemex preparation laboratory in Hermosillo, Mexico for drying, crushing and pulverizing. ALS Chemex, Hermosillo then sends the pulps by air-freight to ALS Chemex, Vancouver for assaying. Systematic assaying of standards and blanks are performed for precision and accuracy; check assays are regularly conducted by SGS Lakefield Research. Details of the QA/QC program are available on the Company's website at www.scorpiomining.com.
